Utah won't win a 'water war' over the Lake Powell Pipeline

All six of the other Colorado River Compact states have formally requested that Utah's quest for the Lake Powell Pipeline (LPP) be paused until Compact compliance issues can be resolved.

The Utah LPP Management Committee recently met. They refused to even discuss this request. And they showed no interest in learning about the significant concerns raised in recent comments on the biased LPP environmental study. With $37,000,000 already spent, they voted to spend more public funds to expedite the LPP approval process. They want the LPP approved before President Trump may leave office in January.

The Utah Republican officials pushing the LPP are being arrogant, wasteful, and foolish. If Utah starts a "water war" over the LPP, which side would likely win? On one side, there would be the huge combined economic and political clout of California, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Wyoming, and New Mexico. On the other side, Utah.

If Utah voters are tired of corrupt and incompetent politicians, they should stop voting to re-elect them.
